I use it as a Computer desk lamp and to shed light on model cars I build. It does give off a few light clicks, but that is just when it is first turned on, and is caused by the expanding metals and plastics. It is to be expected with any halogen lamp since they produce a high amount of heat around they bulb. Overall this is the perfect lamp for me. A Nifty Light Source I bought this to replace a $125 so-called designer desk lamp that looked good but was unstable and gave off a lot of heat. I didn't expect much from such an inexpensive lamp, but I was pleasantly surprised by my purchase. With the gooseneck in a lowered position, the lamp takes up little space and gives off plenty of light. The toggle switch on the base is handy. The round shade rotates but is rather stiff. I recommend that you rotate the shade by hand rather than use the attached rod. This a decent lamp at a bargain price, so I give it a strong recommendation.
